BIOGRAPHY

My name is Patrick Owen Chadd and here is my biography in a nutshell.

I am half-Japanese (mom) and half- Irish-English (dad) and I was born in Korea while my father was working there.  I lived in Japan for 6 years and went to a Japanese 1st grade before my parents divorced and I went with my father to Vietnam where I learned English, French and Vietnamese in the same year.  I lived in Saigon (now Ho Chi Minh City) until the fall of Saigon in 1975.

I spent my youth surrounded by 5 generations of family in Lincoln, Nebraska.  I had a great childhood, and then went into the Army Reserves at 17 and I served in the Army reserves for 16 years. I also went to 1 year of college before leaving to work at the Nebraska State Penitentiary and Correctional Center as a Correctional Officer for 5 years before moving to the East Coast, to Pennsylvania.

I worked for Chester County Prison before becoming a Philadelphia Police Officer.  I then transitioned from Philadelphia Police to the University of Pennsylvania Police where I worked until I left law enforcement after 18 years to become a web developer/graphic artist/media developer.

After I left the police force, I earned my AA in Multimedia and Web Design, my BA in Graphic Design, my M.Ed. in Instructional Design and my Ed.D. in Interdisciplinary Leadership.

I am a first-gen student and the first in my family to earn any higher education degrees.  During the course of earning my degrees, I worked first as an instructional designer for UMDNJ’s School of Osteopathic Medicine and then as Director of Academic Technology before becoming the IRT Director of the now Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine’s Stratford Campus where I was responsible for overseeing the three teams of Academic Technology, Multimedia/Educational Media and the campus Support Services division.

I was with UMDNJ/Rowan University for over 12 years before I took a position with Temple University as the Director of Educational Technology for the Temple Center for the Advancement of Teaching (CAT).  Subsequently, I was offered and accepted the position of Associate Dean of eLearning at Camden County College.

My hobbies are cooking, painting, sculpture and as I have family across the globe, I love to travel when I have the opportunity.

Thank you.

Pat
